“Researching and Rewriting Contemporary Art History”. Call for Scholarship 2021

For the year 2021, the Fondazione Baruchello announces a Call for Submissions for a Scholarship entitled: “Researching and Rewriting Contemporary Art History” to support research and study in the field of Contemporary Art History.

For the 2021 edition, following an in-depth consideration of the aspects or passages in the history of twentieth-century art, or about artists who still require further study, it has been decided to dedicate the scholarship to research the work of Carla Badiali (Como 1907-1992). The Call for Submissions is intended for students who have already graduated or are postgraduates or PhD students. The scholarship will be awarded to a young scholar whose research and analytical skills will be assessed by a Commission formed by:

Carla SUBRIZI, Professor of Contemporary Art History at the Sapienza University in Rome and President of Fondazione Baruchello,

Francesco TEDESCHI, Professor of Contemporary Art History at the Università Cattolica of Milan, Director of Centro di Ricerca sull’Arte Astratta in Italia,

Elena DI RADDO, Professor of Contemporary Art History at the Università Cattolica of Milan and member of the Committee of Centro di Ricerca sull’Arte Astratta in Italia,

Luigi CAVADINI, author of the Catalogue Raisonné of Carla Badiali.

The applicant must demonstrate an awareness of the state of studies on the artist and should propose a research project whose motivations and objectives are in agreement with the premises of the scholarship.

The applicant must possess one or more of the following qualifications:

– Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
– graduate level of specialization in the history of contemporary art or other specialization in the field.
– PhD in Art History or current PhD student.
– Publications demonstrating that the applicant has carried out research and study in the field of contemporary Italian art. It would be advisable to have completed a degree thesis or a doctoral dissertation in the field of Italian abstract art.

The results of the selection will be announced by May 31, 2021.

The research will be carried out during the year 2021. One or more tutors belonging to the members of the Commission will act as contacts for the research.

The results of the research will be presented during a Round Table or Study Day (or similar event) organized by the Fondazione Baruchello.

This project received the patronage of the SARAS Department (Sapienza University in Rome), Centro di Ricerca sull’Arte Astratta in Italia (Università Cattolica of Milan).

This initiative is in agreement, in 2021, with Level0 / ArtVerona 2020.
