Reading Room. 11.05 – 03.06.2022
Fondazione Baruchello invites you to the new “Reading Room” project at its location in Via del Vascello 35, from 11 May to 3 June 2022.
In 2021, Fondazione Baruchello has acquired more than 300 books crossing different fields of contemporary culture, such as: history of art, philosophy, environment, feminism, political sciences, economy, new media, psychoanalysis, sociology, and history, fields that increase sections already widely represented in the library of Fondazione, located in Via di Santa Cornelia. The library contains almost 50,000 volumes dating from the end of the 19th century to the present day. The library, which originated from the interests and work of Gianfranco Baruchello, has been enriched over the years with volumes on a variety of subjects thanks to acquisitions and donations.
The “Reading Room” therefore transforms the exhibition space into a reading room: books, catalogues, and volumes are made available to the public to be browsed, read, and consulted.
On the occasion of the “Reading Room” two talks are organised to take the public on a transversal journey through some of the titles and essays:
Wednesday 18 May, 5.30 pm
How does recent literature address the theme of ecology and the environmental crisis? Can art and culture be a tool for hypothesising solutions to these issues?
Wednesday 25 May, 5.30 pm
Stories of women of the 20th century: writers, philosophers, protagonists of novels. What are their stories and how can we reinterpret them today?
