Gianfranco Baruchello. Primo Alfabeto. Galleria Massimo De Carlo, Milano. 11.01.2024 – 17.02.2024
Fondazione Baruchello is pleased to announce that Gianfranco Baruchello’s exhibition Primo Alfabeto, curated by Carla Subrizi and Maria Alicata, opened on January 11 in the Milan space of the Massimo De Carlo gallery.
The exhibition project focuses on a nucleus of works made between 1959 and 1963. It is a selection focused on the idea of the alphabet and includes painting, objects and drawings, from which the formal and conceptual aspects of an already peculiar research emerge. Baruchello in these years, seeks the unprecedented implantation of a personal alphabet, which he defines as «provisional».
A series of entity-bases is configured in an alphabet that starts from affective situations, whereby affection is meant the reversal that from the rational, the abstraction of language arrives at the feeling of the body. On the canvas (or on the intel cards) the signs of this alphabet are layered, composed or disassembled. The synthesis present in Primo Alfabeto (work featured in the exhibition) breaks down into individual images, larger or smaller, in works of different formats. The alphabet aggregates and disintegrates, trying various formulas of combination and juxtaposition.
